Ashmore Global Opportunities’ original investment objective was to deploy capital in a diversified portfolio of global emerging market strategies with a principal focus on special situtions and to actively manage these with a view to maximising total returns.
After Ashmore Global Opportunities traded at a discount to NAV over a long period of time, the Board, in consultation with the Investment Manager and shareholders, proposed a managed wind down of Ashmore Global Opportunities which was subsequently approved by shareholders at the EGM on 13 March 2013. The Board consequently changed the investment objective of Ashmore Global Opportunities to an orderly realisation of the company’s assets in order to return cash to shareholders.
