Gulf Investment Fund changes its manager

Gulf Investment Fund (GIF) announced this week that its current portfolio manager, Jubin Jose, intends to step down at the end of December 2023. He will be replaced as portfolio manager by Bijoy Joy who is currently assistant portfolio manager of GIF, and who has been involved with Jubin in the day-to-day management of the fund for nearly ten years.

[QD comment: It is always a shame to see a good manager go, and by many metrics Jubin has added substantial value to GIF. He has historically been able to produce strong performance metrics, which one would use to asses a manager’s quality, and has also generated some impressive historical outperformance. Changes in investment managers, while seldom, are ultimately an unavoidable reality, but nonetheless Bijoy will clearly have big boots to fill. Thankfully, with a decade of experience as Jubin’s junior, there is about as much overlap (and hopefully as little disruption) as one could expect in a transfer of management.]
