Henderson European Focus Trust gets a new Co-Fund Manager – The board of Henderson European Focus Trust (HEFT) has announced that Andrew McCarthy has been appointed co-fund manager of the company’s portfolio alongside John Bennett. Andrew has only recently joined Janus Henderson and he was recruited specifically to work alongside John on his European long-only funds and mandates.

Biography

Andrew McCarthy is a Fund Manager on the European Equities Team at Janus Henderson Investors, a position he has held since July 2018. Before joining Janus Henderson, he was a portfolio manager specialising in the industrial and consumer sectors with USS Investment Management Limited from 2007. He was a project coordinator for European and private equities with Capital International Research Inc from 2003 and an analyst with Capital International Limited from 2001. He began his career with Fidelity Investments Ltd In 1998. Andrew received a BA (Hons) in philosophy from the University of Sheffield. He holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA Charterholder) designation and has 20 years of financial industry experience.

Henderson European Focus Trust seeks to maximise total return from a focused portfolio of listed Continental European stocks. The portfolio has a bias to larger capitalised companies but it is able to invest in the equity of mid and smaller capitalised companies. It is not constrained by asset allocation models, but exploits sector themes and it is unconstrained by benchmark and contains between 50 to 60 holdings at any one time.
