Columbia Threadneedle announces succession plan for Peter Hewitt

Peter Hewitt has been responsible for the management of CT Managed Portfolio’s Income and Growth portfolios since their inception in April 2008.

Peter has given notice of his desire to retire. The board and Columbia Threadneedle Investments have been planning for this for some time, while acknowledging that managing Peter’s succession would be no easy task.

There have been many changes to the industry and, indeed, at the manager over the past 17 years. One of the more recent of these relates to its strategic decision to integrate its various multi-asset and asset allocation capabilities into a single EMEA Multi-Asset Solutions team, which is headed up by Paul Niven (fund manager for F&C Investment Trust). Going forward, the company will be able to draw on this team’s substantial experience.

From 1 June 2025, the beginning of the company’s next financial year, the portfolios will be managed by London-based managers Adam Norris and Paul Green, supported by Peter Hewitt until his retirement at the end of October 2025.

Adam and Paul have a combined 35 years of investment experience and currently manage a number of income and global growth multi-asset, multi-manager portfolios with assets totalling circa £1bn. While the new portfolio managers have some different perspectives on how the portfolios should be positioned, the company will continue to invest in a broad spread of investment companies, covering a variety of geographies, sectors and investment managers.

The statement says that Peter has managed these portfolios with great knowledge, dedication, and enthusiasm. He has also communicated the company’s progress to shareholders regularly, engagingly, and openly.

Chair of the company, David Warnock, said: “The board thanks Peter for his years of service to shareholders and wishes him a long and happy retirement when the time comes and looks forward to working with Adam and Paul on the evolution of the portfolios in the best interests of all shareholders.”
