Ross Grier | NextEnergy Capital

Ross oversees and is a member of the investment committee for the listed fund NextEnergy Solar Fund (NESF) and NextPower UK ESG, a private fund focused on unsubsidised UK solar and storage.

Since joining NEC in Nov 2013 Ross has led the M&A team, deploying over £1.5bn of assets, delivering over 900MW of transactions across more than 90 deals to the listed NESF fund. Ross has overseen the development of >1 GW of solar and battery storage projects for the UK market. He has developed acquisition, project and operational documents, joint venture and development framework agreements and created innovative/strategic opex and M&A relationships.
Ross created and leads the company’s biodiversity and nature positivity programme and its delivery of market leading ESG successes for NESF.

Ross began his career working as an analyst at ExxonMobil. He has worked across the business spectrum from SME and start-up businesses, to FTSE 250 and government organizations. Extensive experience in programme process and change management across a variety of subject matters and organisations, from automotive to renewable energy sectors

Richard Hulf | HydrogenOne Capital

Fund Manager with corporate finance and engineering background. Richard has a 30 years experience in Utilities and Energy and is a Chartered Engineer, originally from Babcock Power and latterly Exxon. In addition his financial experience spans Stock Broking, Corporate Finance and Fund Management with Henderson Crosthwaite, Ernst & Young and Artemis Investment Management, where he invested into renewables companies. He uses this unique blend of technical and financial knowledge to apply a differentiated approach to stock selection and asset management. He has an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College.

Matthew Read | QuotedData

Matthew graduated in economics from the University of York in 1995 and, following a period working in the Insurance broking industry, gained his MSc in Finance from Cass Business School in 2000. Mathew has considerable experience in analysing closed end funds; first of all for Quantec Ltd, as part of his MSc studies, and then at Teather and Greenwood where Matthew produced daily statistics and weekly recommendations on investment trusts while providing analytical support to the corporate finance, institutional sales and market making functions. In 2002, Matthew made the shift to writing sponsored research, initially at Hardman & Co and then at Edison from 2008, where the client base expanded from just two funds to over 50 during his tenure. Richard Lum | Victory Hill (GSEO)

Richard oversees Origination & Portfolio Management within the Investment Team. He has close to 24 years of experience in Energy and Natural Resource banking, principally in project, corporate and structured finance. He was formerly Global Head of Energy Origination at Mizuho Bank in London. During this time, he drove the transformation of a traditionally balance sheet-led energy coverage business of the bank into an advisory-focused coverage model, involving public and private capital raising and securitization opportunities across the energy value chain. He has been responsible for the origination of Active Bookrunner mandates for around US$15bn in fixed income debt issuances for energy clients. Richard has 18 years of deal-making experience in energy structured finance as advisor and arranger of financings across the energy value chain in Europe, Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. He has a deep understanding of the energy sector having acted as advisor and debt arranger of some of the most notable non-recourse and limited-recourse transactions in the energy sector, involving global energy companies such as BP, Shell, Petronas, and Saudi-Aramco. Before Mizuho, Richard worked in the Global Energy Structured Finance Group at WestLB Markets in London, where he led deal execution on advisory and debt arranging assignments on downstream, petrochemicals, and renewables projects across Europe. Richard began his career at Standard Chartered Bank based in Kuala Lumpur and London, where he spent 7 years focused on emerging markets coverage and the financing of power and infrastructure projects in the Far East, South Asia and Africa. Richard holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree from The London School of Economics and Political Science (UK).
