Iain McCombie earned an MA in Accounting from his hometown university before embarking upon a career in finance. McCombie began a three year stint with Hall Morrice Accountants in 1991, moving on to become an analyst at Baillie Gifford in 1994. He started managing funds for the group in 1997 and was named head of department of UK Mid and Small Caps in July 2001. McCombie currently co-manages the Baillie Gifford Managed fund and has previously been in charge of the Baillie Gifford British 350 fund and the Baillie Gifford British Smaller
