Fresnillo increases silver and gold output

Fresnillo, the world’s largest primary silver miner, has announced first half silver production results up almost 11% from the corresponding period of 2014. The company produced 23.9 Moz of silver in the six months to end June 2015 as its Saucito II mine, Mexico, commenced production.

Full year silver production guidance remains on track at 45-47 Moz. All silver production includes silver from a streaming arrangement with Peñoles.

The company increased its gold production in the first half of 2015 by 37%, to 364 koz, primarily because of recommencement of full operations at its Herradura mine. The company expects to produce 715-730 koz of gold in 2015 as a whole.
