Aureus Gold’s New Liberty mine attains commercial production

Aureus Mining has declared commercial production at its New Liberty gold mine, in Liberia, seven months after official opening of the mine in August 2015.

Gold production in February was over 9,000 oz as the plant finally operated at 88% of design throughput capacity and recovery levels exceeded 90%

The company continues to work towards finalising an updated mine plan for the project, and MonuRent, the New Liberty mining fleet provider, has purchased and shipped to Liberia five new 100-t capacity Komatsu HD785 rigid haul trucks and one PC1250 excavator. The new fleet equipment is scheduled to be delivered to New Liberty and mobilised ready for operations during April 2016.

Meanwhile, the company’s bankers have agreed to allow the company to defer its first debt repayment to 4 April 2016 (from 31 January 2016).

The company continues to work on an updated mine plan, which will form the basis of discussions with the company’s bankers on a revised debt repayment schedule.
