Caledonia’s Blanket mine increases quarterly gold production by 23%

Caledonia Mining Corporation produced 13,430oz of gold from its Blanket mine in Q3 2016, a 23% increase on the corresponding quarter of 2015. Production was also up over 7% from Q2 2106.

The increases come from greater ore mined at higher grade from the deeper levels of the mine, below 750m, utilising the recently-completed No 6 Winze and the deep decline.

The mine is on track to meet production guidance for 2016 of 50,000oz of gold.

The company is targeting gold production at Blanket of 80,000oz by 2021. As part of the expansion plan, the mine is commissioning a new ball mill, which will increase daily throughput by 20%, from 1,500 t/d to 1,800t/d.

Caledonia owns a 49% interest in Blanket but currently receives roughly 78% of cashflow.
