  • Gresham House Energy Storage (GRID) acquired two operational battery storage facilities totalling 50MW from VLC Energy, a joint venture between Low Carbon and VPI Immingham a subsidiary of Vitol Group, for £29.2 million. The facilities comprise a 40MW facility at Glassenbury, Kent, and a 10MW facility at Cleator Moor, Cumbria that were commissioned in January 2018. The plants are two of the UK’s largest energy storage facilities. Their combined 50MW capacity represents a quarter of National Grid’s 2016 Enhanced Frequency Response (EFR) capacity.
  • JPMorgan Japanese (JFJ) reported annual results to 30 September 2019. The company said returns were poor in Japan. After strong investment performance in the preceding financial year, the company’s NAV total return for the year underperformed the benchmark, the TOPIX index in sterling terms, by 2.3% (being a return of -3.0% compared with a total return from the benchmark of -0.7%).The share price total return for the financial year also underperformed the benchmark but by a slightly smaller 1.8% (being a return of -2.5% compared to the benchmark return of -0.7%) as the discount narrowed slightly.
  • Oakley Capital (OCI) announced the appointment of a new independent director to its board, Richard Lightowler, with immediate effect. Richard is a Bermudian resident, is a chartered accountant of England & Wales. OCI says Richard brings with him significant of experience in financial services, as well as expertise in best practice corporate governance and significant transactional experience.
  • Chris Sherwell, senior director of NB Distressed Debt (NBDD), will stand down from the Board with effect from 31 December 2019, as foreshadowed in the Company’s interim accounts released in August 2019. He will be replaced in the role by Stephen Vakil

Elsewhere, NextEnergy Solar announced its second subsidy-free plant energisation of the financial year, Scottish Investment Trust increased its dividend for a 36th consecutive year and Schroder AsiaPacific said the situation in Hong Kong remained of concern.
