  • Montanaro UK Smaller Companies (MTU) announced a change in its auditor and its board committee structure. The board has approved the proposed appointment of BDO as auditors for the financial year ending 31 March 2021. The appointment will be recommended to shareholders for approval at MTU’s next AGM in July 2020. BDO will replace Ernst & Young, following the conclusion of the current year ending 31 March 2020.

    MTU also announced that following a review of its board committee structure and composition, it has decided to rationalise the structure to combine the nomination committee and remuneration committee. The newly constituted committee will be chaired by Arthur Copple.

  • The chief executive of regeneration group Harworth will step down at the end of this year after 10 years in the role. Owen Michaelson took over the management of UK Coal’s real estate activities when these were restructured as Harworth Estates in 2010, and established the independent business specialising in the regeneration and development of brownfield land. The announcement came as the group announced full year results in which it reported a drop in net asset value from 12.6p per share to 7.2p, a fall in operating profit, from £33m in 2018 to £24.3m, and fall in basic earnings per share from 10.6p to 7.9p.
