Hipgnosis buys catalogue from Red One – Nadir Khayat, a Moroccan/Swedish singer, songwriter, record producer and record executive. Hipgnosis has acquired 100% of RedOne’s Songs and Recorded Music interests including Copyright, Writer Royalties and Producer Royalties in his catalogue comprising 337 songs.
RedOne has co-written or produced songs and albums which have achieved 185 Number 1 and over 600 Top 10 chart positions globally for many internationally successful recording artists, including Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, One Direction, Shakira, Enrique Iglesias, Marc Anthony, Jason Derulo and Nicki Minaj.
Best known for his collaborations with Lady Gaga, RedOne produced six songs on her 2008 debut album ‘The Fame’ including the Number 5 ‘LoveGame‘ and the Number 1s ‘Just Dance‘ and ‘Poker Face‘. He co-wrote and produced 5 new songs on the 2009 special edition ‘The Fame Monster’ including the Number 5 ‘Alejandro‘ and the Number 1 ‘Bad Romance‘. ‘The Fame’, together with the ‘The Fame Monster’ special edition, sold over 15 million copies worldwide making it the ninth biggest selling album of the millennium. ‘The Fame’ was nominated for five Grammy Awards in 2009, winning the “Best Electronic/Dance Album” and the “Best Dance Recording” for its single ‘Poker Face’ whilst ‘The Fame Monster’ was nominated for a further 6 Grammy Awards in 2010 winning “Best Pop Vocal Album” as well as “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance” and the “Best Short Form Music Video” for its single ‘Bad Romance’.
