Jonathan Davis has been analysing and writing about financial markets for around four decades, first as a business journalist at The Times, The Economist and The Independent, and later as an investment professional, author and publisher.
He founded the Investment Trusts Handbook in 2017 and has hosted the weekly Money Makers investment trust podcast since 2020. In 2024, he was named Broadcaster of the Year at the AIC Media Awards.
He has written for the Financial Times, The Spectator and The Independent, and is the co-author of Templeton’s Way With Money. His professional background includes senior roles at Saunderson House and Smith & Williamson, and past non-executive directorships at Hargreaves Lansdown and Jupiter UK Growth Trust.

Laura Foll is a Portfolio Manager on the Global Equity Income Team at Janus Henderson Investors, a position she has held since 2014. She also co-manages the UK equity income portfolio of the Law Debenture Corporation plc. Laura joined Henderson in 2009 as part of the graduate scheme. She was subsequently named a global analyst and later an assistant fund manager for the Global Equity Income Team.
Laura graduated with a BSc degree (Hons) in economics and economic history from the London School of Economics. She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and has 17 years of financial industry experience.

Joe is the head of our European Equities Team and the lead decision maker for the European Growth Trust. He is also a member of the International All Cap Portfolio Construction Group. Joe joined Baillie Gifford in 2002 and has worked across European, International and Emerging Markets equities. He has extensive experience engaging with both company management teams and clients, and an investment philosophy centred on identifying durable growth businesses through thorough fundamental research and careful capital allocation. Joe graduated with an MEng in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge in 2002 and gained an MBA from the University of Edinburgh in 2009. He is a CFA Charterholder.

Prashant is the founder of WhiteOak Capital Group, an investment management firm serving investors across the world with AUM of INR 75,000 crores. Prior to WhiteOak, Prashant spent 17 years at Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) where he was the CIO and Lead Portfolio Manager of Global Emerging Markets as well as India Equity at the time of his departure.
Prashant started his professional investing career in 1998 at State Street Global Advisors in Boston, USA. He joined GSAM in 2000, and rose to become Senior Portfolio Manager and Co-Chair of the Investment Committee of the US Growth Equity team. He returned to Mumbai in 2006 to start GSAM India, which he led as the CIO until 2017. He was also made the CIO of GEM Equity in June 2013. With top ranking peer group performance, Prashant won several accolades and awards over the years.

After studying economics with French at the University of Nottingham, he started his career at F&C Asset Management in 2003. He spent four years there as an analyst and assistant fund manager on the UK and pan-European equities desks. In 2007, Nick moved to Polar Capital as a fund manager on its UK long/short equity hedge fund.

Ben Conway was born in 1979 and graduated in 2002 from Trinity College, Cambridge with a degree in Economics.
He joined the graduate program of Deutsche Bank in London and specialised in Japanese equities having spent his gap year teaching English with Project Trust in rural Japan. He moved to Merrill Lynch in 2004, where he became a Director of Japanese Equities.
In 2008 Ben left the City and moved to Sydney to help start-up an energy consultancy with two close friends. Ben returned to the UK in July 2010, relocating to the South West and joining Hawksmoor. He has worked on the Fund Management team since 2011 and been a co-manager of the Vanbrugh, Distribution and Global Opportunities Funds since January 2014. Ben is now Chief Investment Officer & Head of the Fund Management Team.
Ben’s interests include enjoying the outdoors in Devon’s amazing countryside with his wife and children, reading, and torturing himself by supporting Tottenham Hotspur – from his armchair.

Alan Bartlett joined the board in August 2016. From October 2019, Alan had a 2 1/2 year career ‘detour’ working as CIO of Templeton Global Equity Group. Alan then returned to the AVI Board in September 2023. Alan is CEO of Goodhart Partners which he joined at its inception in 2009. Prior to Goodhart, Alan was CIO of the multi-manager team at WestLB Mellon Asset Management. He has also been Director of Research at MM Asset Management and Head of Manager Research at Aon Investment Consulting in London and Head of Manager Research at Hymans Robertson Actuaries & Consultants in Glasgow. Alan has an MSc in Investment Analysis and a BA (Hons) in Economic Policy both from the University of Stirling, Scotland.
