Industry veteran and former F&C chair Simon Fraser passes away – Simon Fraser, former chief investment officer at Fidelity International and investment trust industry veteran, has passed away following a short illness, aged 62.
He spent 28 years at Fidelity, starting in 1981, where he worked in the US, Europe and Asia. After leaving Fidelity, Fraser spent five years on the board of Barclays and a decade on the board of well-known global fund, F&C Investment Trust.
Fraser also chaired global equity income trust, Merchants, for seven years to 2019. Most recently, he worked as chair at Murray International. He also served as treasurer to the King’s Fund health charity.
A short statement issued by Murray International’s directors said: ‘The directors of the company announce, with deep sadness, that Simon Fraser, the chair of the company, died in the early hours of 9 August 2021 following a short illness. The directors extend their sincerest condolences to Simon’s family.’
The board has confirmed that David Hardie, senior independent director, will become chair of the trust on an interim basis.
