[QD comment: We can’t think of another instance where an investment trust has had co-chairmen and it seems reasonable to question what benefit this will be to external shareholders and that, given that Mr Birch has worked with Mr Gabelli for some time, how easy will he find it to be independent? Previously, the manager and its concert parties have voted against the wishes of the majority of independent directors and, in light of this, the latest changes give us cause for concern for independent shareholders. We continue to believe that GMP deserves a board that is fully independent.]
