David Smith, Aberdeen Standard Investments

David Smith is Head of Corporate Governance, a role in which he supports Aberdeen’s Asian Equities and Fixed Income Teams through research and engagement. David joined Aberdeen in 2011 from ISS, where he was Head of Asia (ex-Japan) Research. David has a PhD in corporate governance and an MA in Corporate Strategy and Governance from the University of Nottingham and a BSc in Business Economics from the University of Wales. He is a CFA Charterholder. CFA® and Chartered Financial Analyst® are trademarks owned by CFA Institute.

Craig Martin and Thinh Vu, Vietnam Holding

Craig has been involved in Vietnam for over 25 years. In 2005 he moved to Vietnam as an investment director and Head of Private Equity for Prudential Vietnam (now Eastspring), and led several notable investments. Prior to Prudential, Craig was a founding member of Standard Chartered Private Equity team, and in the 1990s ran a management consulting firm across Indochina. From 2010 to 2018 he was a managing partner and co-CEO of CapAsia, a private equity manager, investing across Asia’s emerging markets. Craig joined with Thinh in early 2018 to co-lead the establishment of Dynam Capital.

Thinh has managed the Vietnam Holding portfolio since 2011. He has over 30 years experience in Vietnam including 14 years in Asset Management, 12 years in Corporate Restructuring and 7 years consulting. Thinh was Head of the Management Consulting practice of KPMG Vietnam where he did extensive restructuring work with several state owned enterprises. Thinh was a founder member and former chairman of the Vietnam Institute of Directors and is a respected and leading proponent of Corporate Governance among the Vietnamese business community.

Ken Wotton and Adam Khanbhai, Strategic Equity Capital

Ken is Managing Director, Public Equity of Gresham House and leads the investment team managing public equity investments. He is lead manager for LF Gresham House UK Micro Cap Fund, LF Gresham House UK Multi Cap Income Fund, Strategic Equity Capital plc and manages AIM listed portfolios on behalf of the Baronsmead VCTs.

Adam is a Fund Manager and works alongside Ken Wotton managing Strategic Equity Capital plc (SEC). He has ten years of relevant financial experience. He joined GVQIM in 2014 as a Senior Analyst providing analysis and due diligence on existing and potential investee companies. He was promoted to the Fund Management Team of SEC in February 2017. Prior to joining GVQIM he worked at OC&C Strategy Consultants for six years as a consultant working on commercial due diligence and strategy projects for corporate and private equity clients.

Craig Baker, Alliance Trust

Craig is ultimately responsible for all aspects of Willis Tower Watson’s investment philosophy and process. He is Chair of the Investment Committee which selects and oversees the nine managers who run Alliance Trust’s global equity portfolio of high conviction stocks. Craig joined Willis Towers Watson in 1994. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.
