AVR : Avarae benefits from sale of Roman gold coins

Avarae Global Coins’ results for the year ended 31 March 2014 show an increase in its asset value from 14.4p to 14.5p. The dividend fell from 0.18p to 0.15p.

They sold £900,000 worth of Roman gold coins in the USA during the year – a 23% profit on their value at end March 2013. Avarae have also been selling off some les valuable coins as they aim to increase the overall quality of their portfolio.

New purchases include coins featuring Edward, the Black prince, Edward III and Edward VII as well as “one of the finest, if not the finest known, Queen Mary of England, 1553 excessively rare, Ship Ryal in superb condition; and a beautiful and rare Charles I, 1642 Triple Unite from the famous Bridgewater House sale in 1972”.
