In QuotedData’s afternoon briefing 1 April 2021, as a raft of investment companies seem to be getting announcements out of the way ahead of the Easter break, we bring you a one-off afternoon briefing:

  • Baillie Gifford US Growth Trust has published a prospectus in relation to a placing programme of up to 250m new ordinary sharesThe placing programme allows the trust to issue up to 250m shares at any time up to 31 March 2022.

  • Seneca Global Income & Growth Trust has changed its name to Momentum Multi-Asset Value Trust plc. The change of name became effective on 30 March 2021. The Company’s trading instrument display mnemonic (TDIM) will change from ‘SIGT’ to ‘MAVT’ with effect from 6 April 2021.

  • JPMorgan Japan Small Cap Growth & Income plc announces that effective from today, 1st April 2021, the benchmark index has changed from S&P Japan SmallCap Net Return Index (in sterling terms) to MSCI Japan Small Cap Index (in sterling terms).

  • JPMorgan American has published results for the year ended 31 December 2020. Over the year, the NAV rose by +22.0%, outperforming its benchmark by +7.6%. The discount widened slightly  from 4.3% to 5.0%, producing a total return to shareholders for the year of +21.2%. The dividend has been increased from 6.5p to 6.75p. The main driver of the company’s outperformance was strong stock selection particularly from Tesla. The manager took some profits from the name during the year as the stock rallied over 700% and at year end the stock was approximately a 2% position.
