Overview
Scottish Mortgage, launched in 1909, is considered (says its website) to be Baillie Gifford’s flagship investment trust.
Scottish Mortgage is a global equity fund which selects companies for their strong growth prospects. The trust looks to significantly outperform world stock market indexes over a five year rolling period. The managers say they have a long term investment horizon and “invest with real patience”. They also say the portfolio is driven by corporate attraction rather than index construction. The managers see themselves as owners of companies rather than renters of stocks.
